Donnie Klang at Virgin Music Store Event

If you've had MTV on in your house at least one time over the last couple years you've definitely seen the face of Donnie Klang before! He's one of the cast members of P.Diddy's hugely successful MTV reality show, Making the Band and he just released his debut solo album Just Like a Rolling Stone this past Tuesday. Despite a crazy promotional schedule, Donnie still managed to find time to stop by the CosmoGirl office this week to speak with us exclusively about his new album, how his life has changed since joining the show and which Danity Kane member he'd most like to be deserted on an island with (and FYI, it's not Aubry).

I have to say first and foremost that Donnie was SUPER cool and really soon as you meet him, you can tell that his TV persona that he portrays on TV is actually really genuine and he's basically just being himself! Definitely a cool guy.

So Donnie tell me a little about your debut album, Just Like a Rolling Stone. What's your favorite tracks from it?

"Well, I got to write on almost every track of the album and I got to work with some sick producers; Danja and the Clutch, Tricky and the Dream, Soul Diggaz, Mario Winans, Bryan Michael-Cox and Seven. It was just sick. My favorite song would have to be either "Pick it Up" or "Catch My Breath", definitely one of those two. "Pick it Up" is that song on the album that I feel is gonna be that song that's gonna keep me here to do album after's a huge pop, top 40 record. "Catch My Breath" is the timeless record on the album; it could have come out 20 years ago or 20 years from now and it's still just a good song."

We all saw the big finale of Making the Band when Diddy decided he wasn't going to include you in his super-male group he was creating, but instead he wanted to establish you as a solo star. Looking back at it now, do you look at it as a blessing that you didn't get included to be apart of Day 26 and got to be solo?

"Yeah absolutely; especially with Day 26 because they all just fit and they work as a group. And I've sang in groups before and I know you can have conflicts with people and you're bound to argue. You know even brothers argue like everyday so you're bound to have those brotherly fights, and then you have different parents and girlfriends that get for me, I love just being solo so much better.

On the current episodes of Making the Band we see all you guys getting ready to go across the country on tour. How was that experience being the opening act for Danity Kane?

"It was insane! We started off in New York, which is my hometown, with a sold out crowd at Hammerstein Ballroom and it was intense. You go out there and all you see is a sea of people. I've done shows in front of like a thousand or two thousand people where it was a little bit more intimate, but once you pass that two thousand mark it just turns into a sea of flashes and people. It was just intense!

So fictional scenario, say you're lost at sea with all your fellow cast members from Making the Band and you can only save one person and put them on your lifeboat. Who are you saving to take with you Donnie?

"Shannon. First of all, she's married but if we got stuck on a lifeboat I guess that really wouldn't matter anymore because there would be no way to get to her husband. So if her husband reads this, I'm sorry but she can't get back to you! She's just awesome...her whole energy and vibe is always positive and she's always smiling. She was actually the first person to send me a message saying congratulations about my album coming out. She's just really thoughtful and laid-back.

Make sure you all go grab Donnie's debut album, Just Like a Rolling Stone which is available now! Great album and super nice dude! Congrats Donnie!

Peace out,

CosmoDude Mike
