DIY Bag

Every It Girl needs the It Bag, right? Meet the studded Burberry Prorsum Warrior. It could put a major dent in your wallet — but our DIY version won't.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Plain black canvas bag with handle, American Apparel, $30, americanapparel.net
• Two black 36" shoelaces, $3, at shoe stores
• 39 round silver decorative rivets (18 with holes, 21 without); 18 gold star rivets, $2 for package of 5
• Hot-glue gun and glue
• Needle and black string

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cut off bottom of bag 7 inches from the base. Sew it closed with a running stitch (Not sure how? Check out embroiderersguild.com — it's easy, we promise.)
2. Cut two rows of 10 two-inch slits under the top of the bag, and weave both laces through. Tie in a bow in the middle.
3. Push round silver decorative rivets through bag, creating three rows of rivets, alternating the solid ones and the ones with holes, with solid ones at both ends of each row. The top row will have 15, the middle will have 13, and the bottom will have 11.
4. Then glue a star rivet onto each of the 18 round rivets with holes. Push back the teeth of the star rivets so they sit flat.
