Five Questions with The Pregnancy Pact's Madisen Beaty

Madisen Beaty

When a group of girls in a Massachusetts high school formed what was considered a "pregnancy pact," it shocked the country. On Jan. 23rd at 9 p.m. EST, Lifetime will tell their story in the upcoming movie The Pregnancy Pact. We caught up with one of the stars, Madisen Beaty, to talk about the movie, dealing with peer pressure, and lots more.

CosmoGirl: You play Sara Dougan in The Pregnancy Pact. Tell us about her.

Madisen Beaty: Sara Dougan is the last girl you would ever think to get pregnant in high school. She comes from what seems a perfect family, has great values, and is a great student. Her pregnancy is totally unexpected and it is because she is the victim of peer pressure.

CG: This is a pretty heavy hitting movie. What made you want to be a part of it?

MB: I have been looking for a cause to be involved in for a long time and when this came along it was a perfect fit. It is something that I can really relate to, along with all girls. I wanted to be involved in an issue that would open the doors for conversations.

CG: Being almost 15, you are around the same age as the girls you portray in the movie. How do you and your friends deal with peer pressure when you come across it?

MB: Peer pressure is something everyone will face in school. You have to really go by what you think is the right thing to do. Turn to the friends you trust the most when you are put in a compromising situation. If your friends are making the wrong decision, then turn to your parents.

CG: You've been busy for 13! You were recently in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and just recently filmed an episode for iCarly. What has one OMG moment been during your career so far?

MB: Working on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button I played Young Daisy. It took forever to find a pair of jeans that fit me from the right time period because I am really tall for my age. When we finally found a pair that worked, I was supposed to run down the street in the scene. I start running and end up falling and ripping my jeans in front of everyone! The scene was deleted and it was never spoken of again on set, but it was so embarrassing!

CG: What is your advice for someone who wants to get a start in acting?

MB: It starts with the little things. I'm from Denver, and there is really nothing acting wise to do there except for theater. I did everything I could get my hands on until I was able to make it to L.A. There will be ups and downs and you just have to keep pushing through them. People will tell you that you can't do it, no matter what you are trying to do so you just have to really keep at it.
