Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale of High School Musical

High School Musical 3’s on-screen drama queen shares what she was really like in high school, her prom dress success, and the best guy advice.

WHAT WAS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING PART OF THE WHOLE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL EXPERIENCE?

I think the fact that I have castmates that are now my friends for life. We just had this really big connection, so it was like getting to work with your best friends every day. On the last day of filming this movie, we were all so emotional that we couldn’t even get through the last scene. We just sat there, holding each other, all six of us. It was so hard to say good-bye. While we’re all going to do separate projects now, I know we’ll always be there for each other, no matter what.

AND NOW THAT YOU’VE PLAYED HER IN THREE MOVIES, WERE YOU ANYTHING AT ALL LIKE YOUR HSM CHARACTER, SHARPAY, IN HIGH SCHOOL?

Definitely not! I had my social life and my friends, but I was mainly really quiet and shy. Looking back, I wish I had been a little more outgoing and confident and opened up to other people. I think a lot of kids who didn’t know me might have thought I was rude, but I was just really quiet.

SO, WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE FOR ASKING OUT YOUR DREAM GUY?

I’m impatient, so I’d say just go up and ask him out! Start by kind of flirting a little, so he gets the hint. And if he’s flirting back, then be like, “Listen, you obviously know I like you. Now, is there anything between us? Do you like me?” I think the worst that could happen is he says, “I’m not really into you,” or “No, I don’t like you like that.” And if that’s the case, then it’s just not meant to be.

WHAT WAS YOUR REAL-LIFE PROM DRESS LIKE?

My junior year, I went in a pink, total Cinderella tulle dress that practically stood up on its own, but I’m not a big fan of that one because I couldn’t even dance in it. My senior year, I went with a more slim-fitting, curve-hugging dress. It was so cute and totally comfortable, so I felt confident wearing it. I got it at one of those little designer boutiques in Santa Monica, and it was basically a beige dress that had been painted pink and orange by an artist. It was short in the front and longer in the back, so you could see from the front that it had a bright floral print on the inside. It was a really awesome dress!

AND FINALLY, WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING ON YOUR IPOD LATELY?

I love Rihanna, I like Gavin Rossdale’s new song, and I am a big fan of Michael Bublé.
