Your Guide to the Perfect Prom Date!

May 28, 2010 at 9:00AM by Kayla Hutzler |

Guy With Rose

While you don't need a date to have an amazing time at prom — sometimes it can seem like the date is the most important part. Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing your dream prom date.

Don't Go for Arm Candy: The idea of having the most gorgeous guy as your prom date may have its appeal — everyone likes to see arm candy in pictures — but this should not be the focus of your prom date pick. You'll have the best time if you go with a friend and more importantly, someone you're comfortable with. You do not need the added nervous stress of going with someone you barely know.

Friend Equals Benefits: If you bring a friend as your date and are already part of the same circle, you won't have to compromise on where to go for before-prom pictures, what limo to take, or your table seating arrangements.

Match It Up: Once you're date is set, it's time to make sure the two of you coordinate — nothing is worse than clashing in your pictures. If your dress is black, he shouldn't be wearing a navy blue suit, and his tie should complement your dress color. Want an insider trick? Once you've finalized your dress, go to a paint store and pick up all the swatches that look like the color of it. Go home, place them all on top of your dress, pick the one that looks the most similar and give it to your guy — he'll have no excuses when he doesn't match you perfectly!

Who are you taking to prom? What's your best advice for choosing a prom date?

Xoxo,

Kayla
