about this blog

The Daily Kiss is the ultimate staff blog where everyone here gabs about their encounters with beauty, fashion, guys, life, or celeb news and gossip.

Deanne Hess

I am a true shopaholic - there's no such thing as too many pretty shoes or sweat pants in your wardrobe. Anything gummy is the most amazing candy in the world. Fall is the best season (I love layers of clothing). I'm a pushover for romantic comedies, reading novels that aren't going to make me smarter, making people smile, and finding money in the pocket of my jeans. I think unique tattoos are hot. I'd rather hang out with my dog, Sam, than with most of the people I know. And, I'm addicted to 'Gossip Girl,' pretty much any cartoon show, and cinnamon Life cereal. contact Deanne Hess see all posts from this author

Colleen Moody

Colleen is the Web Editor for CosmoGirl.com and spends her days blogging for The Daily Kiss, toiling over quizzes and playing with the clothes and makeup products that come her way. After graduating from Rutgers University in New Jersey she hopped over to New York City and has vowed never to leave (though she will always be a Philadelphia fan at heart)! When she’s not writing, you can find her training for her first marathon, eating something chocolate, or prowling the streets of Chelsea for Ed Westwick. contact Colleen Moody see all posts from this author

Tammy Tibbetts

Tammy is editor of CosmoGirl's sister web sites, MyPromStyle.com and MisQuinceMag.com, so she gets to play around with pretty dresses and tiaras. Leave her blog comments and she will love you almost as much as her favorite things: Spain, hummus, pink, magazines, The New York Times, and spontaneity.
Though she hails from the Garden State and graduated from The College of New Jersey, Tammy now lives in New York City, where she is often found digging through thrift stores, trying new ethnic foods, and lounging in Central Park. When she's not busy being a prom queen, she's hoping to make a difference in Liberia -- Africa's first country with a woman president! -- by helping the MacDella Cooper Foundation renovate orphanages and sponsor Liberian children's educations.

Lauren Brown

Hanging with Anne Hathaway on the set of The Princess Diaries 2. Trolling the streets of the Sundance Film Festival next to the cast of Entourage. Attempting to interview Lindsay Lohan by literally driving to her house. These are just a few of Lauren Brown's career highlights as an entertainment/pop culture writer, editor, producer, and booker. A lifelong entertainment junkie, Lauren made her dream of being a writer in NYC come true just four days after graduating from the University of South Florida. Her crazy career has taken her from print (entertainment editor of CosmoGIRL!, staff writer of Us Weekly, and deputy features editor of Inside TV) to radio (booking talent and producing segments on Sirius Satellite Radio) to TV (writing scripts for New Afternoons on MTV with host Adrienne Bailon). She's also the author of three unauthorized celebrity biographies and has a series of YA novels called Doggy Divas, hitting stores in October 2010. contact Lauren Brown see all posts from this author

Katie Amey

Working for our incredible Entertainment Editor Rachel Chang, I FINALLY have a legitimate reason to be obsessed about the Disney Channel’s latest made-for-TV movie. Favorite part of the job: blogging for CG!’s amazing readers and assisting on celeb events and interviews! Embarrassing facts about me: the movie the Devil Wears Prada was one of my inspirations to find a magazine internship, I secretly hope the CW will start playing re-runs of Summerland, and I am the proud owner of a Miley Cyrus keychain (which I use!) As a Political Science major at McGill (in Montreal), I think it might have been my love of the Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney and Zac Efron that helped me land this amazing position! contact Katie Amey see all posts from this author

Katie Connor

I lucked into an internship at CG! my senior year at NYU and they haven’t gotten rid of me since! When I’m not I can be found at a concert or in bed watching The Food Network. I love television and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Other things that make me happy include (but are not limited to) jigsaw puzzles, bacon, Mentholatum, sandals, bagels with extra cream cheese, gospel choirs in pop songs, yoga, sneaking into the men’s room at work when no one’s looking, Christmas time, shopping bags with “Thank You” printed on them, Richard Simmons, and pretty much anything that lights up or glows in the dark. Things that make me unhappy: leaky ceilings, guilt trips, the word “totes” as an abbreviation of totally, and the price of stamps. contact Katie Connor recent posts from this author indie band alert! getting inked see all posts from this author

Katie Law

I'm a proud member of the Syracuse University Dance Team and can never decide what I like most about it: dancing on the court for 40,000 fans, the ESPN cameras, or the 17 other amazing girls I get to experience it all with. I have guilty pleasures for cheese fries, Seven jeans and my stuffed monkey. Tall, skim chai tea latte is my saving grace, and I have a weakness for Frank Sinatra songs and 1940s fashion. I'm a self-proclaimed bookworm who loves the smell of a new book and could get lost in a novel (or Barnes and Nobles) for hours. I love my family, my boyfriend, and my hometown of Pittsburgh more than anything, but I'm quickly finding a new place in my heart for the Big Apple. I'm an Editorial Intern here at CosmoGirl with the amazing Associate Editor, Cheryl Brody and truly look forward to work everyday. I'm one of the lucky few who does what she loves in one of the most unique and interesting cities in the world… just living the dream one day (and Bloomingdale's trip ;) at a time. contact Katie Law see all posts from this author

Lindsey Schickner

My favorite place to be is the beach. I love long summer days and cool summer nights. I am absolutely addicted to the sun. I love muffins in the morning and Pink Berry any time of day. My guilty TV pleasures are Gossip Girl, Sex and the City and the first season of the OC. I absolutely love country music, singing in the shower and I am always down for a good dance party! I have been an athlete my whole life and I run track now at Bowdoin college in Maine. I love the rush of a race and I use my love of running to clear my head and get away. My all time favorite movies are How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Almost Famous. I love to travel; I love learning new language, meeting new people and exploring new places. I speak French and Spanish and I spent last semester living in Spain. I absolutely love being in the city and never want summer to end! contact Lindsey Schickner see all posts from this author

Lisa Wong

I’m the Senior Stylist for Cosmogirl. I love: all things vintage, crazy impractical shoes, snowboarding, and extra-large cookies. I am a total packrat and am constantly collecting, sewing, and making things, all of which fit not so neatly into my shoebox-sized apartment. contact Lisa Wong see all posts from this author

Margeaux Lippman

I wish I was on MTV‘s “The Paper“ -- I‘m pretty sure I‘m a more interesting student editor-in-chief than Amanda Lorber. With me, anything is debatable - and traveling with Marist Debate is one of my favorite things to do. I grew up in NYC but I’ve never been in a taxi. I still believe in the power of a well-composed mixtape to make or break a relationship. Even at the age of 21, my best friends and I can still be found driving around at midnight, screaming our favorite songs out of the window - and there’s really nothing else we’d rather do. Dawson’s Creek and Say Anything gave me unrealistic expectations about men and relationships. If VH1 ever brings back the World Series of Pop Culture, you could bet that my friends and I would win - we’d be “The Low-talkers.” Karma has never failed me. I have the music collection of a thirteen-year-old Hot Topic kid from 1999. I’m pretty much like Juno -- just without that whole “pregnant” thing. Honest to blog. contact Margeaux Lippman see all posts from this author

Michelle Toglia

CosmoGirl Claim to Fame: Web intern CosmoGirl Specialties: I make sure the Guys & Life Advice web sections are good enough! What you really didn’t need to know: I’m a complete health nut and secretly rejoice to myself when I see tofu. I have a walk-in closet devoted to my massive collection of magazines that I plan on never throwing away. (Sorry Mom!) I like making to-do lists for even the silliest tasks, just so I can cross things off with a black sharpie. I can hula-hoop like nobody’s business for more than 35 minutes straight. I’m skeptical of cafés that don’t carry Splenda. I cried six times during the Sex and the City movie and I’m not ashamed! contact Michelle Toglia see all posts from this author

Olivia Putnal

I have lived in Florida for the past 21 years of my life and recently made the move to The Big Apple! It was overwhelming at first, but after just a week in the city, I am beginning to get into the swing of things and I love it! I have always wanted to work for a wonderful magazine such as CosmoGirl and gain the experience needed to one day add to a great team. My internship here at CosmoGirl is teaching me so much more than I could have ever imagined and I enjoy it so much! I am just your typical Florida southern girl who loves boiled peanuts, the beach, running, writing, college football, and most importantly, my friends and fabulous family. I am a proud seminole from Florida State University and attended football games since I was three. I think football games and tailgating will always be some of the best memories I look back on. I encourage all the readers out there to enjoy your years in school and don't take anything for granted! contact olivia putnal

Rachel Chang

I’m the entertainment editor at CosmoGIRL Magazine, which means watching Gossip Girl and Greek, seeing sneak previews of Hairspray and Juno, and going to Simple Plan and Maroon 5 concerts are actually part of my job. Not a bad gig, huh? Heck, I even get to count getting hugs from Zac Efron, Chace Crawford, and the Jonas Brothers as “work.”

Yes, I know how lucky I am. I always tell people I feel like I’ve won American Idol because I literally have the one job in the world I’d want. How did I get here? After graduating from UCLA (Go Bruins!) in Communications, I worked in photo publicity at The WB Television Network during the great age of Felicity and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I then got my graduate degree in journalism at Syracuse University and moved to New York City, where I worked at Popstar! and J-14 Magazines before landing at CosmoGIRL. Along the way, I interned at the Dawson’s Creek production office, Nickelodeon, In Style, and YM and even worked for the US Open tennis tournament. Weirdly, I have to thank a little phenomenon called High School Musical for guiding my career along since I was the only press person on the set of the first one (Can you believe I actually got bored watching so many takes of “Get’cha Head in the Game” that I chose to wait outside the gym?!)

When I’m not busy “stalking,” the stars, you’ll likely find me making a smoothie, singing with my women’s choir, planning a big trip, playing Scrabulous, calling my parents (Hi Mom! Hi Dad!), scouring the stores for designer clothing deals, or driving to Costco, Trader Joe’s or Target in my ‘97 Saturn.

I'm a junior at NYU and an Editorial Intern for the amazing Cheryl Brody. I dream of working in the magazine industry, being a writer, and traveling all around the world. I'm an outspoken feminist but I love party dresses, lip gloss, and anything pink...so don't tell me feminists can't be girly. I always have my camera, a notebook, and a Diet Coke in my bag. I have an unhealthy addiction to American Apparel and texting, and although I love New York City, a piece of my heart will always belong in the suburbs. Oh, and the best advice I ever got was from my mom: "be kind to everybody." contact Violeta Sikora

Violeta Sikora

I love all things European. From the cultures to the languages, architecture and music, I'm drawn to the world on the other side of the Atlantic. Most of that infatuation comes from my Polish background and you would probably be able to pick that up from my accent. Right now, I'm allured by the Swedish artist September and her super-fun dance music, but my days are not fulfilled without hearing some "yeah, yeah, yeah's" from Duffy. I live in my waaay oversized sunglasses and super skinny jeans, but having a handbag that fits my whole life inside it is crucial. I find New York City to be totally irresistible, although the seashore is my home away from home. contact Violeta Sikora

Whitney Portnoy

Whitney Portnoy is a journalism and photography student at NYU, and the photo intern at CosmoGirl, which means that she does some photo research, keeps our stash of features film and photographers' cards organized, takes the occasional photo for the website, and blogs, of course. Outside of the office, she enjoys designing her own major, being an extremely competitive Scrabble player, writing bios in the third person, and obsessing over Lost and Bravo reality shows. contact Whitney Portnoy see all posts from this author
